William C. Swails was born about 1831 in Juniata Co., Pa.
William was married to Abigail, the daughter of Isaac and Margaret Swailes. It is assumed
that William C. was a cousin of Abigail. Marriage
between cousins was not uncommon for that time period.
William and Abigail had three children:

Nancy Wilson b.29 Jan. 1860
Unknown d.Bef. Sep. 1861
William died in a military hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. in Sep 1862.
